Overview
Managed Wi-Fi solution for the Dua Lipa Event at Palm Jumeirah, Dubai. The event required seamless connectivity across multiple areas, including the backstage for the crew, ticket scanners for event entry, and the box office for ticket sales. A robust and high-speed Wi-Fi infrastructure was needed to handle more than 7,000 attendees and ensure flawless event operations.

The Challenge
Backstage Connectivity
The event team and Dua Lipa herself required reliable and high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity in the backstage area. The backstage was located behind the waters opposite the “Pointe Mall,” where access points and a stable Wi-Fi network were essential for the smooth operation of the crew and performers.
Ticket Scanners and Box Office Connectivity
With an estimated 7,000 people entering the event through three narrow entrances, the need for seamless and uninterrupted Wi-Fi for ticket scanners and the box office was critical.
The box office setup required dedicated internet bandwidth (10 Mbps per device) to handle the sale and validation of tickets quickly.
Project Execution
Wi-Fi Planning and Infrastructure Setup
After detailed site surveys and consultations, the following infrastructure was required to provide the managed Wi-Fi for the event:
Outdoor Access Points:
3 access points installed at the backstage area.
3 access points installed at the ticket scanners.
1 access point installed at the box office.
EZELINK Managed Event Wi-Fi Solution:
Dedicated event box for backstage connectivity.
Parallel network to connect the ticket scanners and box office to Pointe Mall.
Cabling and Wireless Setup:
Required cabling to support both the backstage setup and external areas.
Wireless data installation for backstage operations.
Infrastructure Readiness
To ensure a stable and reliable Wi-Fi network backstage, the following steps were implemented:
Wireless Data Network Installation: The backbone for backstage connectivity.
EZELINK Event Box Installation: Provided event-specific equipment.
Hardware Setup: EZEGATE, EZELB, and network switches were deployed.
Temporary Tripod Stands: Access points were mounted on temporary tripods to ensure optimal coverage.
Network Security: The entire network was secured with a shared key for authorized access.
Testing: A thorough testing phase ensured that the backstage Wi-Fi system was fully operational before the event.
Pre-Event Testing
Prior to the event day, a comprehensive testing phase was carried out:
Wi-Fi System Test: All systems were verified, and everything appeared to function as expected.
Speed Issue Identified: During initial tests, it was discovered that the ticket scanners were only allocated 10 Mbps, which could hinder their performance. It was essential to allocate 20 Mbps per scanner to ensure they functioned at optimal levels.
Immediate Resolution: The necessary changes were made, and the speed allocation was adjusted to 20 Mbps per scanner, followed by a round of final testing to confirm the setup was working correctly.
Event Day Operations
A dedicated support team was on-site to ensure the event’s Wi-Fi setup remained operational throughout:
Support Staff Deployment:
2 engineers were present for real-time monitoring and troubleshooting.
2 additional support staff members were allocated to assist with issues at the backstage and ticket scanning areas.
The support team conducted constant checks across all areas to guarantee that the Wi-Fi setup was functioning as planned:
Box Office Speed Test
The box office was identified as a critical area for fast and reliable Wi-Fi. The allocated high-speed internet (10 Mbps per device) was tested thoroughly before and during the event.
The Wi-Fi setup for the box office laptops was monitored throughout the event to ensure no issues arose, and ticket sales proceeded without any interruption.
Ticket Scanners Monitoring
All ticket scanners were connected to the Wi-Fi and tested before the event. They were actively monitored throughout the event to ensure that scanning and ticket validation were completed smoothly.
No issues were reported during the event, and the scanners worked as expected.
Backstage Wi-Fi Monitoring
While access to the backstage area was limited, the support team continued monitoring the backstage network remotely. No issues were reported during the event, and the setup continued to function seamlessly.
